MIRIAM INGRAM
Trampolonica - A Recycling of Trampoline Go Away Recordings ***

Just over a year ago, left-of-centre Dublin singer-songwriter Miriam Ingram released Trampoline, an inventive, surprising record that ranked among the best of 2006. Disregard the subtitle of this remix album - recycling implies waste product being put to good use in some different shape or form. Rather, Trampolonica is a vastly enjoyable sidestep wherein electronica artists from home and abroad are given free reign to "seduce, ravish, violate, disfigure, abuse, annihilate or eat the files if they so desired". The only rule rigidly applied was no extra material. What transpired is a mixture of the slightly banal and the mostly blissful, with the remixers (ranging from former Sunbear member Colin Morris to the Czech Republic's Selectone) cutting a suave swathe through Ingram's subtle tunes. www.miriamingram.com
