Exeter - Ten pigs' heads were left outside a mosque two days after the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, it emerged yesterday.

They were strewn around the carpark outside the Islamic Centre of the South West in Exeter, said a Devon and Cornwall police spokesman. Police were called to the mosque in York Road just before midnight on Thursday of last week. The incident was yesterday described as "a local act of vandalism" by the force.
