Background: London-based designer who flirted mildly with architecture before flexing his creative muscle in the direction of accessories, furniture and clothes design. His work is sold through his London East End store, Root. His collections are also sold through galleries and outlets in Paris, Tokyo and New York. Sweeney jewellery addicts include Posh Spice, Bjork, television's Zoe Ball and Cat Deeley and Justine Frischmann from Elastica.

Inspired by: eclectic aesthetics - hospital tags, computer keys, aeroplane safety cards, kitsch and religious icons.

Designs: ultra-hip fashion pieces using silver, timber, perspex, pony skin, fur and Velcro. This summer, his most popular pieces included towelling wristbands boasting the slogan Paris and adorned with gilt Eiffel Towers and his own leather cuffs.
