Cork 2005: In the City Library "Celebration of Childhood" project, a series of visits by leading children's authors, supported by exhibitions and contributions from children themselves (as in a Big Book of Culture to be launched in June) will include a programme of workshops from members of the Anne Frank Centre in Berlin.

Funding from Pfizers and Citco Data means the visit can spread over two days and through five library branches on June 14th and 15th. While obviously taking as its main theme a history of the Holocaust, its emphasis is on inter-cultural awareness, tolerance and understanding. For its summer-long celebration supported by Cork 2005, the library has secured a French "Asterix" workshop (June 21st) and sessions on puppetry, food, calligraphy, music, painting for teenagers, creative writing and stories from around the world. June to August; 021-4924900.
