Though Darklight festival is primarily film-based, music fans will also find hidden treasures when it takes place later this month. The festival, now in its third year, will run from October 28th to 30th.

The opening night, at Dublin’s Grand Social, will have DJs from State.ie, as well as a live performance by Le Galaxie and Vengeance the Panther Queen. For October 29th, promoters Skinny Wolves have enticed avant-garde trio Xiu Xiu to The Grand Social, where they’ll be supported by Former Ghosts.

“When Darklight approached us to curate a night of music, we tried to choose someone who influenced and inspired us,” said Jamie Farrell of Skinny Wolves. “To hear Xiu Xiu play is to be shaken, disturbed, and shown something original.”

Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals will close the festival on October 30th with a DJ set alongside Andy Votel at The Grand Social. Members of B-Music, and the animation, music and art collective Synth Eastwood will also perform. Rhys's "psychedelic western musical" documentary Seperado!will be screened at the IFI at 7pm that day, and the musician will participate in a Q&A with its director directly afterwards.
