The meticulousness with which producer Stefan Winter goes about his business is a signal compliment to his artists and his audience. Quite apart from the carefully curated roster of trail-blazing talent and the gorgeous packaging that his Munich label publishes their works in, there's the tender loving care Winter lavishes on each and every recording. This solo piano set from visionary pianist Uri Caine is defiantly old-school, captured on glorious two-track analogue tape – no retakes, edits or overdubs – on the Steinway in New York's famous Avatar studio.
