The Leitrim Equation 3

Accents local and regional have been central to our traditional music for generations. But they have have morphed over the years as the world has shrunk and the web bridged gaps thought impenetrable. The Leitrim Equation 3 celebrates the musical dialects of Leitrim, a county that has long hidden its musical light beneath a bushel. The 3 in the title refers to this third generation of music residencies, with Donal Lunny, John Carty and Seamus Begley taking up the mantel previously held by Lúnasa and Dervish. It's a characteristically organic affair, with local singers swapping songs and tunes with their three distinguished (and distinctive) visitors. Perhaps inevitably, the warmth of a live rendition, a magical moment caught in time, can sit cheek by jowl with a more ragged edged performance, but therein lies the heart of this collection: local accents and local music marvelling at the riches of their own place. leitrimequation.ie
