Artist: The Beatles
Genre: Pop
Label: Universal

In view of the fact that the quality of Beatles music (in this instance, the 27 number-one singles in the US and UK released between 1962 and 1970) is so perfect, and that so many people have it to hand already, you'd wonder what the point is of repackaging it yet again. This time around, however, there is a hook so good that it's irresistible: each song comes with its relevant promotional film/video. As impressive visually as they were musically, the band's videos (some of which have never before been commercially released) for the likes of Ticket to Ride, Help, Paperback Writer and Penny Lane were blueprints for future film-makers to, well, copy and adapt. The Beatles 1+ deluxe edition, meanwhile, features a hard-cover appreciation of the pioneering films and videos by music journalist Mark Ellen. In a word? Fab. thebeatles.com
