Slits singer Ari Up dies

Ari Up of seminal punk band The Slits has died.

The singer’s death was confirmed by John Lydon, who is married to Ari Up’s mother Nora Forster, a German publishing heiress.

Lydon wrote on his website that Up (real name Arianna Forster) had died “following a serious illness”. She was 48. The Slits last played Dublin in April.
