Sarah Jarosz: Build Me Up from Bones

Build Me Up from Bones, which was released in the US last year, is now being given a bit of a push in Ireland to help spread the word about Jarosz's four shows in Kilkenny, Dublin, Cork and Galway next month. Judging by the quality of song and performance, Irish audiences are in for a treat. Jarosz, a precocious 23-year-old Texan, is part of a so-called progressive acoustic music genre, led by Chris Thile through his solo work and the music he makes with the Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek. Their signature is a firm grounding in traditional bluegrass, which they stretch with some relish. Jarosz has caught the bug. These songs and performances (a heap of serious musicians, including Thile, are enlisted) display technical virtuosity, imagination and sensitivity.
