Review: Little Green Cars, Electric Arena

Little Green Cars, Friday, Electric Arena

Atmosphere: Holy festival revelation, Batman. These six young guns from Dublin play with a veteran prowess that belies their youth. A curious crowd quickly realises that Little Green Cars are on to something serious.

High:
O'Rourke's astounding vocals, the ensuing harmonies, and the excellent musicianship of every band member.

Low:
Although the music itself has a remarkable presence, apart from O'Rourke, the band as yet seem unable to develop an impactful stage presence as individuals. Shaking off some nerves and awkwardness with every live gig should help that develop.

Quote of the set:
"Go on [insert band member name here]" from their constantly yelling mates in the crowd.

Verdict: LGC are hotly-tipped and rightly so. Right now they could easily argue the accolade of being one of the best new bands in the country right now. The Cage is excellent, but The John Wayne is almost flooring as a hit. This Local Native-splattered folk-ish indie will go far. Very far.

Stars: ****
