Rae Sremmurd: SremmLife | Album Review

There are more earworms on SremmLife than seems decent. The work of Mississippi-born, Atlanta-based brothers Slim Jimmy and Swae Lee, it's an album which fizzes, pops and soars with a rare aplomb. Then again, given that Rae Sremmurd came up with two of 2014's most infectious hip-hop runarounds, in No Flex Zone and No Type, means we shouldn't be overly surprised. Atlanta producer Mike Will Made It knows the twists and turns it takes to make a track stick in your cranium, but it's the panache and vim of the brothers that really pack a punch. They're a match for Nicki Minaj on the vivacious Throw Sum Mo, they can deal with dark, introspective shadows too, as in No Type, and they can do tenderness, as in This Could Be Us. Kriss Kross may have made you want to jump, but Rae Sremmurd are looking at a longer game. twitter.com/raesremmurd
