Artist: Plaid
Genre: Electronic
Label: Warp

Andy Turner and Ed Handley’s long run as Plaid has seen them prod and poke many of electronic music’s comings and goings on various releases to date.

What has come to pass over the course of those 11 albums is a certain sound full of subtle details and exquisite melodies where the bleeps are always neatly crafted, delineated and finessed.

Naturally given that state of affairs, there have been diversions into soundtracks and there are several reminders on The Digging Remedy that Plaid are becoming masters at crafting cinematic soundscapes. There's a lovely momentum to how Saladore and Do Matter draw out their kinks.

Occasionally, they do demonstrate some bite – see the edgy Baby Step Giant Step, but they're the exception rather than the norm. Plaid know what they're doing and are unlikely to stray too far from those guide ropes.
