Our Little Secrets: tell all

Those who follow the ins and outs of the Irish gigging scene will recognise Rhob Cunningham

Those who follow the ins and outs of the Irish gigging scene will recognise Rhob Cunningham. Over the past few years, the Dublin-based singer-songwriter has been a regular presence on bills up and down the country. Aside from his own gigs, he has also supported Lisa Hannigan, Bell X1, Cathy Davey, Mundy, Gemma Hayes, Mick Flannery and the late John Martyn.

Cunningham’s newest venture is Our Little Secrets, a band put together to plug and play his forthcoming debut album. Aside from an impressive cast of players, the album also features Cunningham’s road-tested songs.

The likes of A Good or Bad Thing(which features Lisa Hannigan on guest vocals, returning the favour as Cunningham appeared on her Sea Sewdebut), Nature's Wayand The River Benddemonstrate Cunningham's pastoral, laidback folk.

Full of soft shapes and daybreak atmospherics, you can tell what records are in his collection – and he certainly don’t be hiding those Drakes or Morrisons behind the sofa when someone calls for tea.
