Let’s see. There is music for fans of electro, rock, pop, folk, singer-songwriter, and all of the rest, pretty much. Most of the end-of-year bashes take place in Dublin, with the potential best being the Mixed Tape NYE Party at Vicar St; here, you can pop open the bottles of bubbly with the likes of Jerry Fish, Lisa Hannigan, James Vincent McMorrow, John Smith, Foy Vance and Maria Doyle Kennedy.

Other goodies on the night in the capital include Jape’s jaunts in Whelan’s, Ham Sandwich in The Village, Le Galaxie, Tieranniesaur, Funeral Suits and Last Days of 1984 in The Workman’s Club, The Hot Sprockets in The Grand Social and – bring your scarves and mittens along – The Coronas, Paul Brady, Bressie and Damien Dempsey in College Green.

Outside Dublin, there’s the good fun triple bill of The Saw Doctors, Sharon Shannon and Jack L in Killarney, a no doubt blinder of a gig from And So I Watch You from Afar in Galway, and in Drogheda, the funk/soul stew of Huey the Hobgoblins.
