Almost a month after the Haitian earthquake, the Irish music community continue to rally around

and organise fundraising events for the devastated Caribbean country. A Hip-Hop for Haiti gig is planned for Ballymuns Axis Theatre on February 19th, while Christy Moore and John Spillane will play a fundraiser on March 23rd at Dublin’s Vicar Street.

A further benefit gig will take place in Vicar Street next Thursday, February 11th, although its remit differs slightly from the others. The Drop Haiti’s Debt gig will focus on raising awareness of the campaign to cancel the country’s crippling financial debts, but the ticket revenue will go to Trocaire’s post-earthquake fund.
