Mini festival takes over The Village

A two-day version of a regular Dublin live music club night will take place next month. The event, dubbed the Clockwork Apple Weekender, is the first time that founder and organiser Sarah Jane Lanagan has undertaken a mini-festival.

The Clockwork Apple Presents gigs, which showcase a wide variety of up-and-coming Irish bands, were founded by Lanagan in 2008. She runs the operation single-handed, as well as playing in the band BellaJane.

The shows usually take place Upstairs @ Whelan’s, but the Weekender will take place in The Village on November 12th and 13th. Sligo-based punk-pop band The Dead Flags will headline the Friday night, where they’ll be joined by The Holy Roman Army, Verona Riots and Youth Mass. Saturday’s headliners are sultry shoegazers

Sweet Jane, with The Gandhis, Little Xs for Eyes and Jennifer Evans supporting.

“The Clockwork Weekender is a natural progression of the regular nights, as well as a bit of a ‘thank you’ to the bands who’ve played,” said Lanagan. “The eight bands involved have all had their own headline shows in the past with me, and the combination of them together makes for a really incredible line up of talent.”

Tickets are €15 per night, or €20 for the weekend, and are available on the door or from the Whelan’s and Village box office on Camden Row in Dublin 2.
