C Duncan: Architect | Album Review

Christopher Duncan’s debut album is as elegantly drawn and pitched as any set of architectural drafts you’re likely to see this year.

A classical composer with time at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in the bank, Duncan’s work here tenderly pulls folk, electronica and classical shades together to form a striking landscape.

The cohesion comes from his ability to sculpt songs which grab at your heart with their simple, celestial, gorgeous lines and finely embellished melodies.

Be it the lovely folk moods he unfolds on For or the shimmering psychedelic ebb and flow of the title track, Duncan carefully builds an enticing, occasionally stunning canvas.

Architect is a compelling document not just of what may be yet to come from Duncan, but a craftsman very capable of creating evocative musical memories right now.
