This is apparently Steve Mayone's fourth solo album, which is remarkable considering he has yet to stake out a distinctive voice for himself or settle down to a consistent sound. The Boston-based veteran singer-songwriter finds his inspiration in the 1970s and '80s, and he flits between the power-pop of Everyone's Insane and country- rock's Jayhawks sounding Back Again, with occasional stop-offs at points inbetween. All that could prove promising in more assured hands, but songs such as the Lennonish Island in the Sun and the paean to The Beach Boys'
