Meet dubstep's first supergroup. While few but connoisseurs will know Skream, Benga and Artwork to begin with, Magnetic Man represent another coming of age for this particular sound of the underground, in the shape of a flashy record deal and ambitious live shows. Unfortunately, this means a bunch of tunes that won't unduly frighten the horses. Each of the protaganists has taken great strides in their own work, but Magnetic Man seems to be about safety in numbers. There are no weird twists or unexpected turns here, just a stream of polished, perfectly pitched bass symphonies with a style-magazine sheen and unremarkable vocals from Katy B, Ms Dynamite, John Legend and others. Occasionally they do hit the mark ( Flying Into Tokyois sumptuous), but more often than not they fail to up the ante. Still, it will sound great in Top Shop changing rooms.
