Does It Offend You, Yeah?

It's not a title that inspires confidence, but don't let that put you off. The second album from the dance-punks picks up where their overlooked 2008 debut left off. And like its predecessor, this is not a record without its faults. Opener We Are the Deadsets a suitably eerie tone, but its demonic Aphex Twin/rave flavour sounds disjointed when placed alongside the poppy melodies of Pull Out My Insidesand the baffling acoustic closer Broken Arms. The Reading band redeem themselves with The Knife(a brash punk-funk track that nods to The Rapture), the nightmarish glitchy squawk of Yeah!, and the rap-infused Wondering, but it's a shame that for the most part, volume and discordance rule over purpose and direction.
