Reconstructed: The Complete DJ Shadow Island***

Some would argue that “the complete DJ Shadow” should begin and end with his ground-breaking Endtroducing debut. But, as Reconstructed shows, Josh Davis has taken many bounds since that seminal release back in the days when Shadow and Mo Wax were the height of hipness. While none of his later albums had the same impact, there was plenty on The Private Press and The Less You Know the Better to assure Shadow of his place in the pantheon.

That said, the tracks from The Outsider album, which focused on his dalliance with the San Francisco "hyphy" hip-hop movement, still don't gel. Shadow himself is still looking forwards, as two new tracks, Listen and Won't You Be, show. One for the completist, especially as it comes in a plethora of formats, including a box-set. djshadow.com
