Philadelphia's Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege and Noah "Xaphoon Jones" Beresinare best known for their indie-sampling tunes, which have borrowed from MGMT, Sufjan Stevens, Passion Pit and Radiohead, and you'll find plenty examples of their penchant for hipster baiting on The Preview. As with Kid Cudi (one obvious comparison point), there's much to like in the swagger and precision of both Chiddy Bang's lyrical flow and the electronic backdrop on each tune. While the juxtaposition of alternative rock and rap does grab your attention, it's far from new (see 1990s rapper Credit to the Nation for an earlier take on this) and it will be interesting to see if Chiddy Bang become more than just a Pitchfork karaoke turn in the future. You can certainly hear possibilities for future directions when they hook up wth Q-Tip for the big-room banger Here We Go.
