New band, familiar faces. Legion of Two is a new project from Decal trooper Alan O’Boyle, a producer with a crate of electro, techno and experimental releases to his credit on such labels as Satamile, Planet Mu and Rotters’ Golf Club. He is aided and abetted on this campaign by drummer David Lacey, who played a a leading role in founding and developing the I-and-E Festival for contemporary improvised music and has drummed with various Dublin bands over the years.

Legion of Two, though, sound quite unlike anything on which O’Boyle and Lacey have worked before. Their Planet Mu debut album, Riffs, is all demonic, heavyweight, menacing freakouts, a no-holds-barred bout between old-school industrial beats and new-

school electronic grooves, on which broody bassy dubs and slow-motion electro kiss and make up with some very unexpected results. Support on the night from Three Pin Din and Dublin horrorcore operatives Over.
