In launching Imma's current programme, director Enrique Juncosa helpfully pointed out that Cuban-born Jorge Pardo's show would be exceptional in a couple of respects: it's an exhibition that isn't an exhibition per se, and its accompanying catalogue isn't actually a catalogue in the sense of being a physical publication - it's an on-line project, and will be available to download and as an e-book.

Pardo does do conventionally artistic things, such as make paintings and sculptures, but they're usually at one remove, usually about art and design rather than simply being art and design.

Why design and not just art? Because one implication of what he does is the idea that you can't have one without the other, design in the form of architecture, interiors, furnishings and presentation, not only contextualises but shades into art, as art shades into design.

Hence the novel form of Pardo's Imma show, a virtual retrospective in which past projects have been incorporated into . . . wallpaper. Custom- made, photomural wallpaper, in fact. AIDAN DUNNE
