Tintin gets the deluxe treatment

There’s still a whole year to go before the release of Steven Spielberg’s film based on the adventures of Hergé’s immortal Tintin.

Nonetheless, signs of a revival are already visible in the artistic undergrowth. Of particular interest is the British Film Institute’s DVD reissue of the rather lovely live-action

Tintin

films from the 1960s. The movies, beginning with

Tintin and the Golden Fleece

in 1962, are now less well-known than the animated versions, but Hergé himself greatly preferred them.
