You want more festival news? We can oblige. Cork Midsummer Festival, from June 21st until July 1st, is to present two intriguing events. Gavin Bryars, modern classical master, will bring his Ensemble to Cork on June 23rd for a rendition of The Sinking of the Titanic. Projected images will be provided by Bill Morrison and Laurie Olinder. Philip Jeck is to work the turntables. First unveiled in 1969, The Sinking of the Titanic is an ethereal piece inspired by the myth that the band continued to play as the ship sank. On June 25th at CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory, The Buzz Aldrin Allstars, comprising members of Si Schroeder, 3epkano, Halfset, Strands and Beautiful Unit, will accompany a video piece by Esperanza Collado concerning the Apollo 11 moon landings. corkmidsummer.com
