Freebie day at the IFI

REELNEW:Free film alert. Dublin's Irish Film Institute hosts an open day tomorrow, during which punters can avail of complimentary tickets to a diverse selection of fine films.

Reflecting IFI's main preoccupations, the event features previews of new releases, screenings of durable classics and a few eccentric oddities.

Seek out Tom Hall's Sensation, a highly original, creepy drama set in rural Ireland; Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut Jack Goes Boating; and a timely unveiling of Mike Nichols's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, featuring the late Elizabeth Taylor's finest performance.

Also keep an eye out for FW Murnau's great silent epic Sunrise, a particular favourite of IFI programmer Pete Walsh.

First-come, first-served tickets for films will be available at IFI from 11am tomorrow. See ifi.ie.
