- No oasis of calm here:Support acts for the Oasis gig at Slane this summer have been officially announced. Joining the brothers Gallagher on June 20th will be The Prodigy, Kasabian, Glasvegas and The Blizzards.

- Bono's ode to the King:A poem about Elvis Presley, written and read by Bono, will air on British radio next Wednesday. The 14-minute-long effort will be broadcast as part of a programme about Sun Records at 11pm on BBC Radio 4.

- Gig news:Up-and- coming indie-folk starlet Emmy the Great returns to Dublin's Crawdaddy on July 15th, while Northern Irish rockers The Answer will play The Academy on December 12th.

- Bon over the volcano:Bon Iver is currently working on a collaborative album called The Volcano Choirwith Wisconsin band Collections of Colonies of Bees. It's rumoured for release this autumn.
