SHARAM JEY
4 Da Loverz Underwater ****

German producer Sharam Jey is something of a serial remixer, putting his Three N One stamp on everything from Energy 52's Café del Mar to expensive dross from Faithless and Moby. Such is the impressive width and depth of his debut album, though, that he's more likely to be concentrating on his own work in the future. 4 Da Loverz is freaky and funky, with track after track shining bright because Jey knows how to get the most out of basic elements. For instance, the a rude bounce and a filthy crackle to Feel Nobody defies belief, while the groove which ping-pongs throughout Message to Love is a sheer delight despite its relative simplicity. Every track wibbles and wobbles thanks to Jey's basslines and the directions they take. An album to be pumped out on the largest speakers you own. www.underwaterrecords.com  Jim Carroll
