CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS

In an article on the Catholic Bishops' submission to the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation in the editions of January 17th, an abbreviated quotation may have been misleading. The quotation should have read: "The more such questions the meaning of life, the foundation of human dignity, what lies beyond death, etc are seen as matters of purely private concern, the less capable we become of discussing, understanding and genuinely respecting the beliefs and values of others. The problem then is, as Rabbi Sachs has pointed, out, that pluralism gives rise to deep and intractable conflicts while at the same time undermining the principles by which they might be resolved. It disintegrates our concept of the common good"'.
