Irish cook books are winners at Paris fair

The Guinness Story, by Edward J Bourke, was named as best drinks history book, and The Wine and Food of Ely Through the Seasons, from the people behind the Ely restaurants in Dublin, was judged to be the second-best book in the world in its category – matching food and wine – at the Paris Cookbook Fair last week.

The Guinness Storyis published by The O'Brien Press and costs €11.99. The Ely book (left) was beaten to the top slot by Asian Palate, by Hong Kong author Jeannie Cho Lee. There were more than 6,000 books, representing 136 countries, in contention for the honours. The Ely book costs €24.95 and is available from Ely restaurants, bookshops, and online at elywinebar.com.
