Rewinding Gerald Simpson's career is akin to rewinding the history of dance music. The Manchester native has been a seminal figure in clubland since dropping the mighty Voodoo Rayback in 1988 (not to mention his part in co-founding 808 State). His back-catalogue is a rich treasure trove with gems such as the gloriously textured Black Secret Technologyalbum and the rich, soulful electronic blur of the To All The Things What They Needset. More recently, there was Proto Acid - The Berlin Sessions, an album of blazing sounds recorded on the back of a year-long series of experimental private club sessions.
