The Health and Consumer Protection Directorate General of the European Commission has introduced a euro theme to the annual European Young Consumer Competition. Participants this year are being asked to design and organise activities to convey information on practical aspects of the switch to the euro to various target groups, such as schoolchildren or pensioners.

When pupils are finished their activities, they are asked to write a descriptive dossier, on the basis of which the juries will select the winners.

National juries will award prizes to the best entries and the first-prize winner will compete at European level. Entries are judged on their effectiveness in spreading the message to the greatest number of people, as well as on originality and creativity. The first European prize is a surprise trip.
