A prototype website for testing drivers' alertness and attitudes to road signals online, has taken the top award in a Web design competition. The site was developed by Corkman, Mr Alan O'Meara, a Masters in Computing and Design student at the University of Ulster.

The adjudicating panel recommended the prototype be examined by environment departments to see if an online or intranet-based application could be developed for public use.

Mr O'Meara received an award valued at more than £1,000 including a cash prize from NewMediaCV, and a suite of Macromedia web software from Multimedia Solutions. Both were sponsors of the event along with Telecom Internet.

The winning entries can be viewed online from this morning at www.newmediacv.com
