University College Cork receives 50 per cent more research income than its nearest rival, Trinity College, according to the president of the university, Prof Gerry Wrixon. He said that UCC's research income figure is about £23 million (#29 million) a year, a very high sum considering UCC is smaller than both UCD and TCD and only has a student population of 13,500.
