National Transport Authority names new chief executive

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has appointed Anne Graham as its new chief executive following the retirement of Gerry Murphy.

Mr Murphy, the authority's its first chief executive, had occupied the role since the foundation of the NTA in 2009.

He presided over a number of projects including implementation of integrated ticketing for bus, rail and Luas passengers, the introduction of realtime information services for commuters and the start of work on the Luas link-up project.

During Mr Murphy’s term the authority has had to contend with industrial actions from bus and rail workers, and a public backlash to consecutive increases in travel fares for some commuters.

Ms Graham is a chartered engineer and MBA graduate from DCU who previously served as director of public transport services within the authority.

She has also worked as an area manager in the southwest area of Dublin city and with local authorities in Dublin as a civil engineer.
