Aer Lingus continued to grow its booked passenger numbers in November, with the airline's figures rising 7 per cent year on year.

New data showed 699,000 passengers were booked to fly with the airline during the month, with both short and long haul passengers recording an increase.

Short haul routes booked 624,000 for passengers, a rise of 7.4 per cent compared with November last year, while long haul passengers rose to 75,000, up 4.2 per cent.

Load factor, a measure of how well a carrier is selling available seats, rose by 3.1 points to 75.4 per cent.

Its joint venture with Aer Arann, Aer Lingus Regional, booked 69,000 passengers in November, a 30.2 per cent rise year on year. That brought the increase in total passengers to 8.8 per cent for the month.
