When Kickstarter funding goes bad

Author Stacey Jay looked for living expenses

Crowd-funding is a beautiful demonstration of democracy in action but it can lead to some really weird products. We've seen the strap-on beard, a Doctor Who rap album and soap that smells like bacon. Strangely, while some throw money at fake facial hair and meaty soap, others condemn projects that seem a lot saner. Author Stacey Jay took to Kickstarter to gather living expenses while writing a sequel to her Princess of Thorns book. Other writers reacted with anger, expressing outrage that they would "pay her bills". She should have pitched cheddar-scented glow-in-the-dark bowties instead.
