Web Log: Firefox arrives on iOS

It’s not much different to Safari/Chrome

Finally Mozilla has released a Firefox web browser app for iOS! Before Google Chrome came along Firefox was the ultimate alternative to Microsoft Explorer back when the latter was the dominant portal to the web. Firefox brought tabbed browsing to the world, had skins, plug-ins and was less of a memory hog; it really was a trailblazer.

Anyway, lest I get misty eyed about the good old days, I’ll move on to the app. It’s not that much different to Safari or Chrome. Loading speed is roughly the same, as is private browsing mode, and syncing across devices. There are two differences: tabs are a nicer experience than on Chrome or Safari for iOS because the Visual Tabs feature makes it easier to swap between websites. Search suggestions are also very handy: as you type in the address/search bar, lots of suggestions are generated below, making your results a tap away rather than the autocomplete used by other browsers.
