Television shows such as Daredevil, Orange Is The New Black and House of Cards demonstrate the ability of Netflix to commission and produce original, award-winning dramas. However, Amazon has been working away to produce some gems of its own including the bittersweet and superb Transparent.

Perhaps in a bid to buy up some more original content, Amazon has just released a free, cloud-based scriptwriting app called Amazon Storywriter. Budding screenwriters can create a script, share with others and edit offline using a Chrome app for both Mac and PC. Formatting is easy with a side menu that transforms text to element types such as dialogue, action and character.

Users are invited to submit their script to Amazon Studios, something that can be done immediately within the app once you’ve chosen from movie, comedy or drama pilot episode. Go ahead, make their day.
