VMware chief tech officer to address it@cork event

Fingal Enterprise Board to host start-up bootcamp for aspiring entrepreneurs

The it@cork European tech cluster is hosting a tech talk with VMware's EMEA chief technology officer Joe Baguley in Cork County Hall tomorrow.

The talk, which is open to members of the public, entrepreneurs and business leaders, will help IT decision-makers understand what's in store for us in the software, virtualisation and infrastructure space over the next five to 10 years, according to Cian Kennedy, chairman of the Tech Tuesday Committee.

“Mr Baguley should provide an excellent presentation that is sure to interest not just the die-hard tech enthusiasts, but also the entrepreneurs concerned about tech security,” he added.

Mr Baguley will be speaking in Cork ahead of the VMWorld Conference – Defy Convention – which takes place in Barcelona in mid-October.

Meanwhile, in Dublin today, Fingal County Enterprise Board is hosting a business bootcamp for aspiring entrepreneurs with guest speakers from the motoring industry, television and technology sectors.

The event which kicks off Fingal Enterprise Week will feature talks by architect, interior designer and co-presenter of RTÉ's Design Doctors Denise O'Connor and Digicom chief executive Greg Clarke.

"It can be very difficult to know where to begin when thinking about starting a business. You have an idea but is it a good one, what are the next steps, who should you talk to first?" said Oisin Geoghegan, chief executive of the Fingal County Enterprise Board.

The board will also run a series of free ideas generation workshops and business advice clinics this week, as part of the enterprise week which runs until Friday.
