Accepting card payments can be a bit of a minefield for smaller businesses. But this peripheral turns your iPhone or Android device into a card hub, taking payments in seconds. Teamed with a SumUp account, and helped along by telephony provider Blueface, it allows everyone from taxi drivers to small merchants to accept credit cards, for a small fee.

The reader plugs into the headphone jack on the smartphone, and once the app is opened, you can swipe cards and email receipts to your heart’s content
