Tech firm Aspira to create 50 jobs, acquires B-Tec Solutions

Irish-owned technology firm Aspira is to create 50 high-tech jobs as it announced it has acquired rival B-Tec Solutions for €1.5 million.

The group, which provides consultantcy and IT services, officially opened its new headquarters in Little Island, Cork on Friday.

The new jobs are to be created over the next 18 months. They will be primarily in Cork and include project management, business analysis and software development roles.

Aspira, which said it experienced 65 per cent growth last year, has an international client base that includes companies in the IT, financial services, pharma/med devices, healthcare and energy sectors.

The firm, formerly AspiraCon, was established in 2007 and currently employs 28 people. Prior to its accelerated growth in 2015, Aspira was averaging consistent annual growth of 50 per cent - earning it a Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Award for the past two consecutive years.

"The new roles we are announcing today will strengthen our delivery capability and our management team at a time when we are bolstering our service offerings, and preparing for expansion to international markets," said chief executive Pat Lucey.

“We forecast overall sales to more than double over the next three years, with international sales growing faster again,” he added.

Aspira said that in addition to acquiring B-Tec Solutions, it is to invest heavily in enterprise IT services over the next two years.

The group’s new service will include supply and installation of IT hardware and software licensing and support, in addition to Aspira’s current package of consultancy, design and implementation of bespoke IT solutions, project management and enterprise IT services support.
