Samsung’s tiny storage drive spells end for your bulky hard drive

The SSD T1 is available in sizes up to 1TB

Fed up with your bulky portable hard drive? Check out the Samsung Portable SSD T1. The name might not exatly roll off your tongue, but the solid state drive offers up to 1TB in storage space in a device about the size of a business card.

It’s designed to be durable and writes at speeds of up to 450MB per second up to 100 times faster than an external hard disk drive. To put it in context, you could transfer a 3GB movie file in about eight seconds, compared with 26 seconds for an external hard disk drive.

No moving parts means it will take the odd bump or drop without risking your data. It also uses exFAT file system, which means you won’t need to reformat it to work with Windows or Mac.

The device comes in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB sizes, and starts at a price of around €200.
