Online ticket firm to create 100 new jobs in Limerick

An online ticket company is to create 100 jobs by doubling its workforce as part of a three-year expansion plan, it has announced. The Viagogo Group said it is recruiting for the new roles at its operations centre in Limerick, where it already employs 100 workers.

Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton said the expansion, supported by the taxpayer through IDA Ireland, is "a great boost for the Mid West". Viagogo says it is the world's largest online marketplace for tickets to live events, such as sporting fixtures and concerts.

Oliver Wheeler, head of communications for Viagogo, said: "We opened in a temporary location in Limerick last year and were overwhelmed by the level of local talent and the support from organisations such as the IDA." The company is based at the former Flextronics building in the Kilmurry Business Centre, which it has developed into a 14,000 square feet operations centre.

It is currently looking to fill German-speaking customer services and software developer roles. Martin Shanahan, chief executive of IDA Ireland, said the expansion enhances Limerick's reputation as a base for technology-based businesses. "The available skillbase, a deciding factor in viagogo's expansion plans, is a huge plus in Limerick's favour," he added.

“Limerick’s recent success in attracting foreign investment is a great example of the results that can be achieved when the business community from across the region joins together to show what great opportunities there are to invest here in Limerick.”
