. com, an online booking service for cleaners, has surpassed 20,000 cleans in its first three months of operation in Dublin.

The site, co-founded by Kildare woman Jules Coleman, is an online marketplace that allows people to book and pay for someone to come and clean their home.

Coleman said the site had signed up more than 300 cleaners and thousands of customers in Dublin since its Irish roll-out began in July.

“Dublin has taken off in a way we could never have predicted,” she said. “There was no existing market for what we were offering, so we weren’t sure what the uptake would be.”

According to Ms Coleman, Hassle has gained 2 per cent of the cleaning market in the capital. She predicts this figure will rise to 5 per cent by Christmas.

“We only covered Dublin postcodes 1 to 24 in the first two months. We then expanded into Co Dublin and north Kildare. We’ve had demand from Cork and Galway, so will look at them next.”

She said Hassle’s revenue increased fivefold in the past six months. Dublin is the company’s fastest growing market outside of London.

The London-based company expanded into Dublin in July and into Paris in October.

Founded by Coleman, Alex Depledge and Tom Nimmo, Hassle.com secured a $6 million (€4.7 million) investment from European venture capital firm Accel Partners in April. The company has 35 full-time employees between Ireland, the UK and France.

Cleaners go through a phone interview and an in-person interview, and have their references checked before being accepted onto the site.

Customers can go on to the Hassle.com site, type in their area code, browse through cleaner profiles and customer reviews and book.

Coleman says the booking process takes less than 60 seconds and costs €12 per hour in Dublin.
