Cemetery software firm PlotBox wins 10 US contracts

Co Antrim business described as ‘Google Maps for cemeteries’

A Co Antrim firm which has developed software that has been described as “Google Maps for cemeteries” has won 10 key contracts in the US. The largest one, with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, could be worth $500,000 (€460,000).

PlotBox, which was set up by husband-and-wife team Seán and Leona McAllister from Portglenone, provides a cloud platform-based service to help cemeteries and crematoriums manage the particular requirements of the death industry.

The McAllisters, who have a background in engineering and surveying, came up with the idea when they were asked to do a mapping project for a local cemetery.

“PlotBox brings cemeteries into the 21st century, with a very easy-to-use online platform. Through doing research and participating on an Invest NI trade mission to the US last year, we identified a gap in the US market for our services,” Ms McAllister said.
