The problem that just will not go away, the Year 2000, will feature large on next week's Tech TV programme on Network 2. It will examine the possible implications of the millennium date change. The programme will explore what Irish businesses have been doing to prepare themselves. The Minister of State for Science, Technology and Commerce, Mr Noel Treacy, will be asked to explain why Ireland has not adopted a similar strategy to the multimillion pound awareness campaign initiated in Britain.

Tech TV will also examine one of the fastest growing wired communities - farming. It will speak to dairy farmer and cattle breeding adviser, Mr Pat Nolan, who has pioneered new technology to enhance his business. He has developed his own dairy and beef management software programmes which are now for sale. Among other things, the products help farmers to manage cattle herds and monitor milk output.

The episode will also profile some of the better food and dining sites available on the Internet.
