SOFTWARE City, a new superstore chain founded by a former John Menzies executive, is to launch in August with its first store in Leeds, the company said yesterday.

The software superstore chain, formed by Mr Alan Taylor, a former managing director of two wholesale and distribution divisions at John Menzies, said it planned to open about 40 stores by the end of the decade.

"Software retailing is a big and fast growth business. Industry experts anticipate the number of home computers to double and software sales to quadruple by the year 2000," said Mr Taylor.
